Spencer, Loughall
« on: Sunday 15 June 08 11:31 UTC (UK) »

Hello, Im trying to find the ancestors of FW Spencer, born Loughall 1907 and have reached an impasse as family records imply that his supposed father and mother may well have been his grandparents. Also I’m finding Irish record hunting rather baffling! The details I have are:

Spencer, Frederick William
born 7th Aug 1907, The Manor, Loughall
died 8th August, 2nd Mate SS Empire Crusader bombed in English Channel
Occupation Merchant Seaman and probably a freemason.
Known siblings Spencer, Wilfred John and Spencer, Robert Henry.
Married Noddings, Doris Evelyn of Middlesbrough England, location and date unknown (approx 1929)

His ‘parents’
Spencer William Robert, born 20 May 1856 Tangragee, a farmer.
Resident at The Manor, Loughall

And

Dick, Annie, born 22 Feb 1854, a ladies maid.

Any help, hints or pointers in the right direction would be very much appreciated. Also if anyone is related to any of these people I have some interesting photos from FW Spencers photo album - he was a keen amateur photographer and documented some of his travels around the world.

Many thanks
Joe

Thank you Mary.
That information on the school rolls is very helpful. I'm really quite new to all this and this is one of the family branches I'm finding very hard to trace.

Cheers

Going through old posts and wondered if you'd found all the information you were looking for by now (if so please modify the title of your 1st post by adding the word 'complete').
Index to Irish civil registrations on LDS Pilot site has been added in the last few months (free) and there's a birth registration which would seem to be your Frederick William SPENCER (date ties in with school information supplied by maryderry- not 1907 as in your 1st post).
Frederick William SPENCER July/Sept.1902 Armagh registration district volume 1 page 45.

If you order the birth certificate it might clear up confusion over who his parents were. There are several ways to order certificates (the details from birth index will be sufficient). One source is GRO, Dublin:
