DALTON & BEALES families
« on: Friday 06 February 04 23:43 UTC (UK) »

My ancestor Michael Dalton was born in Gt Ellingham, according to the 1851 census for Coggeshall, Essex, he married Jane Anthony 11 Oct 1796 at Coggeshall.  The IGI shows his baptism as 2 Dec 1765 at Gt Ellingham, parents Michael & Mary Dalton.  The following IGI marriage is I believe of his parents, Michael Dalton married Mary Beales 28 Jun 1762 at St Marys in the Marsh, Norfolk.  I realise IGI info needs to be treated with caution but I feel that when checked against the PRs (one day) it will be correct.

My earliest Beales is Samuel b1801 in Banham. She was Born in 1734, that would be at least 3 generations between the two. As yet i have no Mary in my tree ( unlike the Williams ) so it does'nt seem to be a family name.

I've got it saved in my Beales file and if i ever manage to get that far back, i'll certainly give you a shout.

I,m planning on going to Norfolk in a few weeks. Just have to get organised with my brother..It'll be the first time i've been to view the PR and i,m a bit excited.  lol

If we do go i'll do the lookup for you if you like.

I would be very grateful if you would do that lookup for me, I live in Oz (oh for the beam me down Scotty tecnology) and although I get back to the UK every second year to see my mother and other family members, it's next to impossible to find enough time to go to Norwhich to do research.  By the way Chapman and Young are also my family names but are the Essex variety, like most of my family names.  I have noted a lot of Stebbings in various Essex PRS over the years and my Young married in the village of Stebbing, Essex.

I've been looking on the Map and Banham is South Norfolk so there is a good chance that we do tie up somewhere along the line....I,m really desperate to get into the 1700's   lol

I'll talk to my brother today and see if we can definately get a date when we can both go to Norfolk.  Hopefully in the next week or two.
