Hi
I am looking for a Hannah Stott b 1836 Heworth, Durham. Can anyone find her in 1841 & 1851 please.
This is all the information i have apart from her marriage in 1861.
Your help is much appreciated

Hi Carol,
I have an interest in Heworth re my Woodruff family. Further down the track a member of my Woodruff family marries a Stott. I haven't done a lot with the Stotts (not my direct) but after looking at your query and my tree I can see that this line appears to stem from a William and Isabella, through Robert b 1841. I dont have him in 1851 but there is a chance they may be in Scotland as 1861 lists a son b 1851 Scotland. The funny thing is I haven't found this family in 1841 but I found yours yesterday. I also see a death of an Ellen in 1842 and the marriage of a William to an Isabella in 1844 so you can see what I am wondering here. Same family possibly but have to say there are also some deaths of Williams in that same decade that could possibly explain the absence of your William in 1851. If it is the same family then Robert (father of Jane Isabella who marries William Woodruff) must be Ellens son  Do you know much about your Stotts? Kris

The only information i have on the Stott's at this stage is what you gave me.
Yesterday i found a Hannah Stott born 1836 Heworth marring Ward Stonehouse
Marriages Mar 1861
Stonehouse Ward Whitby 9d 591
Stott Hannah Whitby 9d 591
I decided to find out if Ward was one of my Stonehouse's. And he was.
Ward was my mum's 1st Cousin twice removed.
I am wondering if Robert and Hannah are brother and Sister. Their grandmother is a Jane. Maybe Robert named his daughter Jane (after Gran ma) as in 1851 James and Hannah are staying with her.
It looks like the same family as you have.
