Can't see the wood for the !!!

In the Hereford Marriage Index there are two marriages for a James Hammer 1751 and 1757 in All Saints both entries are for bachelors of the parish. so why can't I find at least one James HAM(M)ER born about 1730?
If anyone is compiling HAMMER data I would be grateful for any help you can give on this mystery

Hooray another HAMMER researcher has joined us but now there are too problems to solve
1 I still can't find James Hammer who married Sarah Tomkins in 1757 father of Esther (1757)
2, our new chatter is from James and Ester WATKINS and their daughter Hester(1736) who married John PHILLIPS he needs to find this James HAMMER and anything about John PHILLIPS
PLEASE can anyone help?
I went to Hereford RO way back in 2006 and found :
All Saints Bc63/42 Baptisms & burials from1736 -1771 m1736-1753
Noted all James bapt from 1729-1732 Lookimg for James HAMMER
James s Richard &Ann THOMAS 1732
James s John & Sarah COOPS 1733
James s William & Ann HART 1733
James s James & Sarah PARRY 1733
James the base child of a person unknown was baptized April ye 9th 1734 was this child “adopted” by the HAMMERS or was he really Esther WATKINS' or Ann HOOPER's child??
Thomas HAMER & Ann HOOPER of this parish were married July 25th 1734
James HAMER & Esther WATKINS of this parish were married Jul ye 25th 1734
John ye son of James & Hester HAMER was baptized June 20 1735
Thomas s of Thos & Ann HAMER was bap Jan ye 4th 1735/6
Hester ye dau James & Hester HAMMER was baptised March ye ? 1736
John ye son of James HAMER & his wife Hester was Sep 17 1751
Dec 30 1751 Esther daughter of James and Sarah HAMMER was bapt
Was the base child James who married Sarah TOMPKINS
