WHILEMAN Clay Cross and Wingfield
« on: Thursday 11 May 06 22:06 BST (UK) »

Hello,
If anyone has access to any census prior to 1881 I would be grateful for a lookup for Thomas WHILEMAN or variation, born 1848 Clay Cross.  I think that his father was probably George WHILEMAN, and siblings may be Sarah 1855 George 1857 James 1858.  In 1881 he was a coal miner living Whitworths Yard, Clay Lane, Derby with wife Sarah and young family.  Thanks

1861 census - the family is wrongly transcribed as WILDMAN but are still at Clay Lane but now at 24 Tunnell Row.  Birthplaces have also changed just to complicate looking for them - our ancestors had no consideration did they?

All surname Whileman

Ann 36 b Bagshot Notts Wife
Eliza 11 b North Wingfield Daughter
George 45 b Ashby De La Zouch Leics Head   coal miner
George 3 b N Wingfield Son
James  1 b N Wingfield Son
Sarah A 6 b N Wingfield Daughter
Thomas 13 b N  Wingfield Son

1871 - again transcribed as Wildman.  Still at 24 Tunnell Row but Ann is now a widow.  All surname Whileman

Ann 45 b Bagthorp Notts  Head
George 14 b Claycross Son
James 11 b Claycross Son
Sarah Ann 16 b Claycross Daughter

At the same address but shown as a separate household is Thomas aged 24 b Clay Cross and wife Sarah Ann aged 20 b Higham - no children
