Hi Jools,
Welcome to RootsChat
can you give us a link to your website, please .
It's usually easier to see what's happening, if we can see the page and check the code.
Thanks, Bob

Hi Jools,
I've looked on your site and discovered the following: (right click on the red cross and then click properties)
the names of your image files are pilkington-crest-small.jpg and _h1_The%20view%20looking%20from%20Rivington%20Pike%20towards%20Chorley%20cropped.JPG
the %20 is hexadecimal code for a space, i.e. the name of the file is "_h1_The view looking from Rivington Pike towards Chorley cropped.JPG" This is definitely a No-No !!!!
No blanks in file names, please, use underlines instead and call it "_h1_The_view_looking_from_Rivington_Pike_towards_Chorley_cropped.JPG"
Even better: use only lower case names for all images. "_h1_the_view_looking_from_rivington_pike_towards_chorley_cropped.jpg"
Even "more better": use shorter names, and put the long description in an ALT-tag (see Falkyrn's reply and Topic: TIP: Adding images (and 'thumbnails') to web-sites http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,47486.0.html )
I don't know why the first image isn't showing, as the name seems OK but if you have uploaded, for instance, "Pilkington-Crest-small.JPG" or anything other than the exact name then the browser won't find it.
Hope this helps, Bob

Hi Jools,
I don't normally use the Windows on-board tools, as I find them cumbersome., but this should do the trick:
If you look at 'extra', 'folder options' in your explorer, and then click on the 'display' tag, you get a list of options. click on the box to remove the tick on the line 'don't show file extensions' and you should then see the file extension .JPG
And if you can see it, then you should be able to change it, from JPG to jpg
(The menu texts you see may be slightly different, I'm translating from my german operating system )
