Help with identifying Tartan
« on: Monday 15 May 06 18:59 BST (UK) »

I know this is a strange request and a long shot on my part but I would love to know what the tartan my Grandfather is wearing in this photo. His grandparents hail from Scotland and are Lovie's, and Shepherds. His Great Grandparents are Gow's and Strachan's.

Well, the Shepherd one is black and white - (http://www.shepherdweb.net/files/tartan.html) so doesnt look like it is that tartan.

The Strachan one looks a bit like the one he is wearing (see http://www.potts.net.au/tree/origin/strachan_name.html).

The Gow one can be found here -

I couldnt find a Lovie one, sorry.

Thanks for your help Stephen,
I agree that it looks like the Strachan tartan.
