Henry PURSER 1st Royal Scots - Boer War
« on: Wednesday 07 December 05 18:24 UTC (UK) »

Hi Izabel.

Thanks for putting up this thread.

Henry Purser
I dont know a lot about this man. marriage cert 1898 has his age 29, Postman living in London, father Harry Purser (deceased) Painter.

I have just got the death cert for.
3778 pte. Purser H. 1st Royal Scots
Died of disease 2nd Jan 1902 in Pretoria.

He was not at home in 1901 census.

Can you please help with any of the following questions.

1- I have found mention of a General hospital in Pretoria, was there a military cemetery attached to it, if there was, were the graves marked and is there a memorial.

2- As he was died will his service record be at the N.A. as I am hoping that his dob and pob will be on there.

3- Are there any websites that might show memorials in South Africa.

Hope I'm not asking to much.

Thanks to anyone that may be able help.

Hi Malcolm!

If you want to do some research about the hospital - here's a site about nurses - this may give you some ideas!!
