I have traced my Douglas reletives back to 1839 on 16 July when
WILLIAM DOUGLAS  married  CATHERINE YOUNG at Saint Nicholas, Aberdeen, Scotland.  (Union Parish)

I found the ref. on IGI site and ordered the certificate from scotlandspeople online but it only states the brides fathers name in the transcript. This is the case for all the marriages on that page so I guess was the norm.

I can not search for William Douglas's birth as on all the census returns I have for him 1841, 51 and 71 it just states born in Scotland or Scotland out of county.

I live in Deal, Kent so am a long way from parish records....does anyone have any ideas for me or links to this family?
