That was what weinitially thought. Think I may have to go with that. Would anyone know if West Stow was Thingo District?

Not a clue which district.
Pity these enumerators had such flowery writing

   Hi ......

West Stow was in Thingoe registration district from 1837 till it was abolished in 1908. It then came under Bury St Edmunds.

Hello again,

I think it might be Hopton
(I was wrestling with the idea it could be Wrafton in Devon  Smiley

However, I checked 1901 and then back to 1891 and 1881 - can't find any of them on the 1891 (perhaps someone else might be able to find them Huh

In 1881 clearly shows William's birthplace as Hopton, Suffolk.

1881 Census

Church Lane, Scoulton, Norfolk

William Turner Head age 25y Shepherd born Hopton SFK

Sarah Turner wife 24y born Hepworth SFK

Amey dau age 5y born Rockland NFK

William son age 3y born Rockland NFK

Sarah dau age 1y born Rockland NFK

Sarah Turner mother age 62y widow born Rickinghall

William Cockrill visitor born Garboldisham

Of course in the 1901 son George and daughter Ethel are shown as being born in Scoulton NFK.

A check in the Hopton PRs might be next ?

Hopton All Saints (which is right next to Garboldisham).
The PRs are at the SRO on 11 fiche from 1691-1900 and with any luck you will find Williams Baptism.

With best regards,
