Frary in Pietermaritzburg
« on: Tuesday 23 May 06 02:47 UTC (UK) »

I'm new to South African Genealogy having already found found family in the UK Australia and India.

I have found a death record for two of my ancestors in Peitermaritzburg Natal.  Herbert Frary died 1967 and his wife Mildred Frary (formerly Quarman) died in 1971.  I have heard from another family member that they had a daughter.  How would i go about tryng to find her in South African records??  I'm not sure whether she was born in the UK or South Africa but she would have definatley lived in South Africa with her parents.

Unfortunatley i have no more information than this.  Any suggestions???

Thankyou

Hi there,
One of our regular contributors, Mole, will let you know who would be able to get details of those death notices in the Pmb archives. Send her a PM and I am sure she will point you in the right direction. The death notice should list the daughter and hopefully her married name.

Hi Ruth

Thanks for the reply.  Have done a quick search and just figured out that Mole is Rosemary, who i have already been in contact with and she has given me some advise.  I have sent an email to the Pietermaritzburg Archives requesting details of the death notice and any costs involved.  Looks like i have a lot to learn about South Africa!!

Thanks again,
