Recently I made contact with someone who's ancestor was the next door neighbour to my ancestor from 1851 to 1881.
We have been swapping all kinds of data, helping each other with research for that area, and timeslot. It has been a great aid to my research and I suggest others give it a try, it does help if it is a small size village and not a large city. Also it means doing a little bit of research on the neighbour and hoping that someone is researching them. good luck, its worth a try

I bet with the small villages most of my family came from, I would find the neighbours are related anyway!!!!
Great idea though!

On the 1891 census, 3 sets of my grt grandparents were living in the same street! The other one was less than a mile away.

I also had relatives in the same street. Plus there is always the off chance of them marrying into each others lines. I have learnt a lot about my little village and its community. margaret

Burwash in Sussex in the 1850s was so full of Pilbeams and they ran all 3 of the pubs, shops etc I am convinced they must have been the Burwash mafia!
