1861/71 Limerick. Mahoney
« on: Thursday 25 May 06 12:08 UTC (UK) »

Searching for Mary Jane Mahoney born 1856 in Limerick. Sorry no parents known or address. Should be still living in the area in 1861/71 before sailing for New Zealand.
Many thanks. SUE.

Sorry Sue, this will be a tough one with out a parish or parents as unfortunately we no longer have the pre 1901 censuses in Ireland.

Hi I am looking for Mahony Mahoney's in Limerick as well, John Mahony and Johannah Fitzgerald 2 sons Jeremiah and Maurice came to Western District Victoria. I agree going to be a hard task but I am searching my mothers line at the moment will get back to the Mahony's. I was lucky my dear Uncle did a lot of research on the Mahony's before computer days.

Hello Appingirl.
Sorry to take so long getting back to you.
I am checking to see if there is John and Johanna with sons in the research I have. Not sure if any went to Australia.
However I'll look into it and you never know may find a connection.
Until soon. SUE.   Grin

Hi. My name is John. John Mahony and Johanna Fitzgerald are my GGG grandparents, and their son Maurice who married Mary Ellen Noonan on 15/03/1858 is my GG grandfather. He died in Koroit on 28/10/1909. I was excited to see your post, even though it is over 2 years old, and I was hoping that we could exchange information. I live in Werribee, and have not been tracing my Family History for very long. I hope to hear from you. Thanks.

Hi appingirl. Thanks for your reply. I am unable to send Personal Messages yet, probably because I am new. From Maurices auzzie death cert i know his parents names. I didnt know he had a brother Jeremiah until I came across your post. I have a marriage date for Maurice in 1858. I don't know anything about his parents yet, and have been unable to find out when and on what ship he arrived in Australia on. I am slowly obtaining certificates for his children in Australia. Some were born in Ireland before he left, but I have been unable to find birth dates for these. It seems like he got married then disappeared for a while, and turned up in Australia with offspring. I do know that Jeremiah his last child was born here. As for his brother Jeremiah, I am still scratching my head. Any information you could help me with would be greatly appreciated. Again, Thanks - John

1901 census shows something like 125 Mahoney/Mahony and O'Mahony households in Limerick.
