Marriage Look Up Please
« on: Thursday 25 May 06 18:21 BST (UK) »

I am looking for the marriage of Benjamin Roberts born Dawley, Shropshire and Elizabeth born Much Wenlock, both born circa 1816. On the 1851 census they are living in Pensnett, Kingswinford, Staffordshire.

The only Benjamin and Elizabeth I can find on the 1841 are age 20 and living with them is William Roberts age 45. All living in Kingswinford.

Their first child was born about 1843 in Pensnett. I have searched the records from 1837 - 1847 for a marriage but can't find one. Has anyone any suggestions on where to look next?

Margaret,

I wonder if this is your couple from IGI:

Marriage 25 Dec 1836 in Madeley Shropshire (3 miles from Dawley and 6 from Much Wenlock) Benjamin ROBERTS and Elizabeth ROBERTS.

Then the following baptisms:

Benjamin ROBERTS in Dawley Magna 22 June 1817 parents Robert and Elizabeth ROBERTS

Elizabeth ROBERTS in Much Wenlock 23 August 1818 parents William and Elizabeth ROBERTS.

Thanks Pinetree

I will have to see if I can think of another way to check it out to clarify it. It looks promising though. Trust me to have two ancestors with the same surname. Aaaarh!!!!
