Todd and McMaster of Mountjoy
« on: Thursday 25 May 06 22:06 UTC (UK) »

I am looking for any information on William Todd and Jane McMaster who married in Mountjoy, Co. Tyrone on 25th November 1858.  I believe William's parents to be Robert Todd and Margaret Mahon - Jane's parents were James McMaster and Margaret Campbell.

William and Jane emigrated to Glasgow sometime between their marriage and the birth of their eldest child in December 1861.

Any info about either set of parents or about the village of Mountjoy itself would be appreciated.   I think they probably left to try to improve their circumstances.  Does anyone know how badly this village was affected by the potato famine?

I am researching Kemp, Emslie, Mitchell in Lumphanan, Aberdeenshire; Marshall, Shewan and Adie in Longside/Peterhead, Aberdeenshire; Still, Sim, Duncan and Andrew in Boyndie/Fordyce Banffshire; Niven, Bruce, Ross, Robert in Fetteresso / Durris, Kincardineshire.

I have been researching for over 20 years and have a very extensive tree involving each of those names, proven back to the early 18th century in some cases.
