1851 Census
« on: Monday 29 May 06 15:17 BST (UK) »

Could someone please locate the OWEN family in 1851. They lived in Nottinghamshire - William (a Wine Merchant) his wife Caroline and three or four children. Three girls I am sure of Sarah, Marion and Caroline.  Much appreciated.

That makes it easier - you'll see why I needed birthdates!

1851:
HO107/2131/5/2
(?)Clunbar St, Nottingham

W S Owen,  Head,  58,  Wine Merchant,  b Topsham
C C Owen,  Wife,  38,  b Ippleton, Devon
S E S Owen,  Dau,  15,  At home,  b Ippleton
M A Owen,  Dau,  7,  b Liverpool
C C Owen,  Dau,  3,  b Surry (sic)
M A Cox,  Nurse,  20,  Servant  (birthplace unknown)
Ann Trevitt, Cook,  20,  Servant  (birthplace unknown)

I found the family in Exeter in 1841, and there's a son, Henry, who must have died young.

HO107/266/2/16/26
Wm Owen,  48,  Wine Merchant,  Y   (= born in county)
C Owen,  29,  Y
Maria Giles,  28,  Nurse,  Y
Mary Taylor,  21,  FS,  Y
S E Owen,  7,  Y
Henry Owen,  5m,  Y

Do you need any other years?

Clunbar Street would be Clumber Street, in the centre of Nottingham, still there.

O, thank you so very much. You have made my day. I have the other years - but have tried for ages to trace them in 1851.  One son did die later in 1841.
Again many thanks for your time and trouble.
