Could someone who has access to the 1881 Census CD please look up this married couple:
Samuel Rainnie (Rennie, Rainey) baptised 1823 Kirkkinner labourer Mary Rainnie wife (nee Brown)
These are some of their children I am aware of that could possibly be living with them; however, I imagine they have moved out and are on their own by 1881.
James Rodie Rainey b, 19 FEB 1865 b. Leswalt Samuel Raineyb. 20 MAY 1869 b. Leswalt Robert Andrew Rainey 4 NOV 1873 b. Leswalt Eliza Jane (Jane, Elizabeth) definitely not with them on 1881 census
If you can help me, it is greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Linda

I think this is Samuel on the 1851 census with his parents (in case you don't have it already) East Slochabbert Farmhouse, Kirkinner Samuel Rennie-72- head- Annuitant (retired ag lab) born Ireland Jean Rennie-wife-62-employed at home-Kirkinner Grace Rennie-32-daur-unmar-dressmaker- Kirkinner SAMUEL RENNIE-27-SON-UNMAR-FARMER OF 29 ACRES- KIRKINNER Fanny Rennie-daur-unmar-dressmaker-kirkinner James McKie- nephew-unmar-receives parish relief- age 50- kirkinner. So maybe on the 1881 census Samuel decided to be proud of his Irish ancestry & just slapped himself down as being born in Ireland. I hope it's them & I'm not leading you up the garden path...... All the best Rose

Thank you so much!! This has helped add a few more branches on my tree and I didn't have the 1851 - this is great.
Much appreciated, Linda

Hello
My Samuel was born Co.Down Ireland about 1823 and I have since found his death certificate. His parents were John Rennie & Sarah Milvain. Maybe your Samuel and my Samuel's father John could have been brothers. I do know that John's parents were William Rennie & Margaret Tate. Do you know the parents for your Samuel?
