I am trying to check the family in 1881. I was given information that there was a Martyne Sockett (b 1879) in the family.
All searches have drawn a blank on this person. I have no idea if Martyne is male or female or even if my information is correct. I would be grateful if someone could check. I believe the family were living in Holmer.

Thats them. So Martyne did exist. Must have died before 1901 as no mention then.

Checking through BMD 'S cannot find Martyne ......I don't suppose a Robert turns up later in the family does he ?

Yes Robert b 1881 followed by two more boys and then three girls.
I can't find out what happened to Martyne. I suppose it means a trip to Hereford to solve the mystery.

I did find a Robert Sockett but born in 1879 1st qtr vol 6a page 528
Hereford.... Robert Manthorpe Sockett marries in 1899 to Susannah Harriett Beddows.... just wondering if he could be one and the same but not sure ....??

I'm sure it's a different Robert. The trouble with my family was that they tended to name children after cousins.
I've got 3 pages of Roberts from 1700 to 1900 that I am still trying to sort through and add to all the others in the tree.

Is there any chance that Robert M could have been Robert Martyn ? Do you have his birth cert from Hereford Register Office.
I cannot find this family on the IGI records.

Thanks for all the research you are doing.
Let me put you in the picture Joseph & Elizabeth are my GGrandparents. Joseph Christopher my grandfather.
I knew nothing of them until last year. I was only 21 when my mother died in1973 and at that time had no interest in family history. It was only when I needed a copy of my birth cert. that I decided to check the family out.
With the help of Roots,Genes and Family Search etc. I have managed to piece the family together. I am having more trouble with Joseph, Elizabeth & their children than the others.
I have no certs as yet.
I'll post the family as I've got it in a mo.

In 1901 I can see a family in Hereford All Saints.
James born Ketley Wellington aged 33
Mary E born Wellington aged 30
Hannah born Rogerstone Newport Monmouthshire aged 11
Joseph born Hereford aged 9
Percy born Hereford aged 4
Ernest born Hereford aged 6 months
Now James is not the the eldest son as I thought of Joe and Eliz but is shown living with them on 1891 census?
He married [cousin ?] Mary Elizabeth in Hereford in 1889
Then there is Joseph and Hannah [nee Socket] and their family in Holmer.
and of course Joe and Elizabeth....
Gosh and all the children are named after uncles and aunts ...
Where do Susannah and Robert fit in
Have you got the family on the 1841.51 61 and 71 censuses yet ?
