Hello, this is my first look up request so I hope I include everything needed!
I'm looking for details on Eliza Stevens (nee Smith) born in Ross about 1838. She married Phillip Stevens (the milkman) haven't got a date for their marriage, eldest child born about 1857. Phillip Stevens was also born in Ross, about 1832. I've got this information from the census records. They are on the 1861 census, but I can't find them in 1871. Their children are James W. Stevens born about 1857, William Stevens born about 1859 and Jane Stevens born about 1861.
If you could look in the burials record for Ross 1813 - 1884, for these people it would be greatly appreciated.

My first look up and I've found a new family member! I'm looking forward to finding out who Hillothea's parents are.
Is it common for people to "go missing" for one census?

I haven't found out who Hillothea's parents are yet, but I have found lots of other family members as a direct result of your post so thank you once again.
It appears that the generation up from Philip tend to be listed as Stephens.
I've still not found Philip & Eliza Stevens in 1871 I've tried looking with v and ph in the surname both with and without the end s. They could have posssibly had more children than the three I am aware of, so it is possible that one of those could be Hillothea's parent. I was hoping that I could find them by searching for Hillothea in 1881 as she's listed as age 11 in 1891, but looks like a tougher challenge than that. I'm not sure which area to look in either as the family were moving around. 1861 Ross, Herefordshire then 1881 Leicester. Hillothea's birthplace on the 1891 census says Leicester but I couldn't see a birth listed for her there either!
