Hi
I am looking for a Charles Shelton born 1842 in Stafford
his first child Alfred was born 1870 in Hucknall Torkard.
He was married twice his first wife was Eliza and his second wife was Isabella.
On the 1881 census he is listed as living with Isabella.
In the Hucknall Torkard area of Nottingham.
But he could have been with Eliza in 1871.
Any help would be appreciated

Civil Parish:Hucknall
Chequers Yard (No other address)
Charles Shelton,Head,27,Coal miner,b.Hamstall Ridware
Eliz.,Wife,25,b.Armitage
William,Son,4,b.Hamstall
Ellen Maria,Daur,2,b.Hamstall
So there was no mention of Arthur? and Charles wasn't born in Stafford,but Hamstall Ridware is in Staffordshire,here's a link to some info on Genuki

4/2/1872 Alfred James

Thanks for your help!!This is the .Charles I'm looking for
Dare I ask!!!!!! have either of you got a Death listed anywhere for Eliza or a Wedding for Charles and Issabella?He had quite a few children but can't work out if any of them had Issabella has their Mother.

Hi Cheryl,
I'm pleased that we have the right Charles
Unfortunately,I didn't have any joy trying to find the marriage of Charles to Isabella 
Regarding a possible death entry for Eliza,I did find an Eliza Shelton who's death was registered in Basford (which as I understand it,is the enumeration district for Hucknall,but I may be wrong)
Sept 1878: Eliza Shelton
District:Basford
Vol.7b, Page.99
The dates that you posted for the birth of the children suggests that the last born to Eliza was Arthur in July 1878,given that the above Eliza died in the same year,I guess there might just be a connection.

I'm sure what you say is right, Charles and Issabella probably never got married but at least I can work which children were hers.
