Bullivant Misterton Ashkam
« on: Wednesday 31 May 06 22:11 BST (UK) »

I'm looking for any info on Bullivants in Askram.  In particular Jane Bullivant (married name possibly who came from Misterton. born 1817, had a son William Bullivant  born in Ashkam, remarried a George Buttery born 1820 from Normanton and and went to live there.  Also looking for a Fanny Bullivant or Robinson born about 1760 who may have had an illegitimate child or Bullivants in Askham who have   connections with Torksey or Marton Lincolnshire

Hi

Marriage Askham 12.12.1837 William Bullivant & Jane Teall

Baptism Askham 15.6.1845 William to William & Jane Bullivant

Marriage Askham 27.12.1847 George Buttery & Jane Bullivant

The dates seem to fit though a large gap between 1st marriage and birth. I presume there were many more children before William but not listed on NFHS CD.

Jane

Thanks that has cleared up who Jane was.  I've been following the family backwards from Williams widow Fanny who was on the Parish in Sheffield in 1891.  I think there may be a Lincolnshire connection with her husband and my branch of Bullivants who are in Sheffield through a John and Ann Bullivant who moved to Ashkam in 1785.  But this is a great help now I know her husband.

On the 1881 census I was looking for my George Buttery b 1820 Kelham and came across another George b 1820 Normanton married to Jane with Buttery and Bullivant children. Yours Iam assuming.

Yes part of the family I was researching.  Not sure if they link directly yet.  Only know that there was a Bullivant marriage at Kettlethorpe in Lincolnshire and they moved to Ashkam and that this family is probably descendants of them.  Likewise my Bullivants were in the same area of Lincolnshire and ended up in the same area of Sheffield/Derbyshire.  Family first names are similar too.  Maybe its a coincidence but you never know.

I think you mean Askham which is the next door village to me in Nottinghamshire.
