Family records show Joseph Bramley married Mary Bown, that they had nine children and that he died in 1913 and she in 1908.
They show up in the 1881 census in Alfreton, Derby. Joseph was born abt 1842 in Burton Joyce, Nottingham and Mary abt 1846 in Somercotes, Derbyshire. Their first child was born in 1866 in Leabrooks and the others in Somercotes.
We assume that they married but have been unable to find a record of their marriage in any online sources.
Any suggestions on where to look next would be appreciated.

You need to search the indexes themselves. You can do this in a few ways Either at a local Record Office, probably on microfiche At an LDS Centre, see www.familysearch.org for your nearest one You could check www.1837online.com You can search the original images for free at www.ancestry.co.uk - put the name into the search and choose England as place. When the list comes up open up the list of marriages and try to look at one of the images, this will ask you to register, this is free but once you have done so you will be able to choose to search the images rather than the database.
You will have to check each of them quarter by quarter, year by year and first find one name and then try and match the other against it.
The indexes have every marriage so if you then fail to find it this way, even using a wide date range, you will need to consider that maybe Mary had been married previously and although Bown might be her maiden name as noted on one of her children's birth certificate, she may have been married to Joseph with a different name.
Good luck
