I am to visit Occold in Sufflok very soon, my family came from Occold in the middle 1800s ,the baptisms and weddings  of my family took place at St. Micheals church Occold, and I would be grateful for  any information about the church.  My family were called Canham and Ship.

Have you checked out details of the church on Simon's web site?
www.suffolkchurches.co.uk

You will find that the church is kept locked - but there is a list of keyholders posted and you will have to arrange to collect a key.

The records for the village will be at Ipswich RO, although PRs and Census are available at all three branches of the SRO (in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft - advisable to book fiche or film reader in advance).
The PRs for Occold are available from 1681-1900 on just 10 fiche.

Enjoy your visit  Cheesy
