I am to visit Occold in Sufflok very soon, my family came from Occold in the middle 1800s ,the baptisms and weddings of my family took place at St. Micheals church Occold, and I would be grateful for any information about the church. My family were called Canham and Ship.
You will find that the church is kept locked - but there is a list of keyholders posted and you will have to arrange to collect a key.
The records for the village will be at Ipswich RO, although PRs and Census are available at all three branches of the SRO (in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft - advisable to book fiche or film reader in advance). The PRs for Occold are available from 1681-1900 on just 10 fiche.
Enjoy your visit
