Hi,
I have a bit of a problem....
I have a Richard SCUTT bc1798 Thakeham who married a Ruth...bc1803 (according to all census returns) Tillington (sometimes Pulborough). They had loads of children from 1826 to 1847. From the IGI and an SMI look-up request for a Richard SCUTT to a Ruth the only contender was ...
Richard SCUTT married Ruth SIVIER 21 April 1826 at Arundel
and from IGI I found...
Ruth SIVIER bap 7 June 1801 at Heyshott Parents George and Mary
Heyshott is about 5 miles from Tillington I think? So far, so good.
However... having made contact with another SIVIER researcher I have run into another Ruth, this one SIVYER, who married William AULBURY 4 Feb 1822 at Heyshott (fron IGI) and apparently had at least two kids, one in 1835 and one 1847?
Two Ruths it would seem?? My Ruth never states Heyshott on any census and her birth year is always given as 1803 not 1801?
Can anybody come up with a baptism for another Ruth SIVIER/SIVYER about 1803 in Tillington (not covered by IGI)??
It looks like I may have been barking up the wrong tree Or have I??
Thanks

Hi Andrea,
That's very interesting! Perhaps I was right after all - any chance of finding William AULBURY in the 1841 or 1851 with the wife to verify which one he did marry?

Thanks Andrea - looks like there were two Ruths after all. Maybe they were cousins? So if mine isn't the Heyshott baptism.... - Tillington is the most often given on census for her and a birth year of 1803. The search continues....

The postings I refer to are not recent. However, there is mention of a Ruth marrying a William Albury. I too have a William and Ruth in my tree. If you are still searching or have info to share I would like to hear from you. I do have a considerable amount of Albury/Albery history which I can share, together with a few photos. Thanks, Ian
