Hi Phillip,

You might find something here to help you on your way:

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LIN/revolt1872.txt

Binbrook is about half way between Market Rasen and Louth.   There was a very large RAF Station there until recently (now an industrial estate).   The area is very much given to agriculture so I would imagine the owner of the hall was a wealthy farmer - but this is off the top of my head because I live not too far away!

Good Luck,=.

Thanks for that, would you be able to recommend a good book on the area as we know that our relations that we are looking for came from the Louth/ Market Resan area in the 1850's as this is as far back as we have got so far.

Any help would be most welcome

Sorry Phil - I don't know of any, but I'm sure if you did a Google search it would come up with something.   Alternatively you could try contacting Lincolnshire Libraries - they should be able to recommend something.

Good Luck

Does anyone know of any decent books out there on Louth / Binbrook/ Lincolnshire history. That may help with my search for Susannah Derry and where she worked during the early 1900's

Thanks

Hi Vanessa:  I would be interested in anything in regard to Binbrooke as I am looking for my grandfather's family who were in that area when he was born Mar 27, 1875 in Binbrooke.  His name was Arthur son of James Brant & Caroline Brant formerly North.  James Brant is listed as a farm labourer so I am assuming that he may have worked on the estate.
Thanks, Ilene

Hi Vanessa,

When I took photographs of Binbrook Hall for you a few months ago I think I explained that it is situated 'out in the sticks'.   It is at the end of a dirt track which leads nowhere but to the Hall, about 2 miles out of Binbrook village itself.   The only other properties in the area are a couple of farm cottages which clearly belong to the estate.   I doubt the road has a name.

If you wanted to write to Binbrook Hall I am quite sure "Sleight Estates, Binbrook Hall, Binbrook, Lincs." would find it.
