Hi me again! Hoping to find Edward Matthews and wife Mary. Mary was born in 1805 around Salford, Lancs. area but has other family in Cheshire so not sure if she's in this county or not. Her mother died in Cheshire and mentions her in her will so I know mary was alive in 1853 at least.
Thanks in advance, Lilygirl.

Hi there Darcy,
Yes I think that does look like it could be her especially with a child named Louisa unless it's just coincidence.
Is there any Edward Matthews in 1851 that could fit at all or can they be found in 1841 at all because they would have some of the children by then by the looks of their ages at least Ada and Louisa Matthews
Also narrows down marriage dates a bit for me so thanks for that also.
Lilygirl.

Hi darcy,
Thanks a lot that sure does look like them.
Is it possible to find Mary in 1861 at all??
Do you think it's right to assume that because in 1851 it says mar not wid Edward may still be alive then?? (I know it's not good to assume anything but how likely do you think it would say mar if he's dead in your research?? have you come across that before??
Lilygirl.

Sorry for the delay in answering - I have been away for a few days.
Here is Mary in 1861 - a widow. It is possible that Edward died before the 1851 even though Mary is recorded as married. I have seen this happen before.
1861 Census Hulme Lancashire
116 Rutland St
Mary Matthews, head, wid, 56, Salford Lancs Louisa, dau, un, 26, Lambeth Ada, dau, un, 22, Lambeth Augusta, dau, un, 20, Lambeth Mary, dau, un, 15, Lambeth Elizabeth Sykes, servant, un, 70. Crofton Yorks

Hi Darcy Hope you had a god trip away! We had a frost here this morning minus 4 degree C in the good old Riverland yesterday too so bit nippy in the mornings!
Thanks for the lookups I was guessing he'd probably be dead in 1851 but will try and follow it up.
Ciao for now Lilygirl.
