Hi
Tried to publish my new and improved website today with NOF9.
Has anybody been successful transferring the files to the remote server?
For some reason I could only transfer some of the files and in the end I went to Dreamweaver which I have used successfully in the past and published it through that.
However I have deleted it all and gone back to my old site because a) I couldn't get the guestbook to publish b) on 3 pages various banners and button images were missing
and now c) I have lost entirely off the site the top banner from every page?
Does anybody have any ideas about any of these problems. I have left it for now as I am getting a little stressed and may do serious damage to myself, the computer, my site

The banners were there when I looked. It was just the search and guestbook that didn't work. Did you do anything after you PMed me? Did you use CSS as you said you were going to?

Hi Gadget
No I didn't use CSS in the end.
I did try to copy the essential bits of the folder across to another folder on my C drive as I realised in Assets there was every option I had ever picked, ie every different colour in photo album.
But I didn't think I removed anything essential.
I can't find any way of adding a style element back into a page?

Not sure which 'Assets' file you looked in Kerry. I've just checked mine and it only has the files relating to the particular 'nod'. I've tried masses of different styles but they don't appear in the one I'm working on
JulianB might have some idea.

Let's be methodical/analytical here:
1. you designed your ws in NOF8 with CSS but kept your Gedcom/tree stuff seperate
2. you then updated to NOF9
3. you couldn't put your site up using NOF ftp so you did it via Dreamweaver's FTP
4. you PMed me to look at your site, which I did. I looked at every page and it looked fine with the exception of the guestbook and search facility.
Now did you do ANYTHING after I PMed you about the guestbook?

Added - when I go to 'publish' for my site, I have two folders - Assets and HTML and the index file. The folder HTML has all the pages in. What is yours like?

If it's any help, I have given up using "publish to website" FTP function in NOF7. I now publish locally (ie to my hard disk) and use another FTP program.
I did have immense problems publishing my ardguest 1.7 guest book - see a separate thread on here. Bob, as ever, helped me out.
Can't advise on NOF9 specifically because I haven't used it!

That sounds like a very good idea, I know what I am doing with other FTP programs like Dreamweaver and the rootschat manager FTP.
I actually think I am going to start the site all over again. Perhaps I should read the manual first!!
I've got so many folders in my site, and versions of photo album etc in assets I am going to create a clean copy. It is only 16 pages and I can copy and paste all the info.
I couldn't get it to even publish locally quite a lot of the assets which I think is why I had pages missing buttons and banners. As for guestbook, I will not even say that word!!!
BTW Gadget did you say the Search option wasn't working for you, because I managed to use it?

That has always been my problems, I think I know or can work out how to do things and never read manuals. I know I should and I always tell Pete to!!!
I shall have to email it to me at work to print out, our printer died and we have got to buy a new one, which doesn't help!!
I can just print the relevant pages that I need and wait til we get a new printer.
When I tried the search box I put in Pilbeam and it brought up a whole load of pages on my site where the name occurs, I didn't really notice whether it was an RC page or not.

Hi All,
To keep everything together, please add any further replies to: Topic: Building websites with Net Objects Fusion (NOF) http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,170182.0.html
I won't merge the topics, as that would "shuffle" them too much, but I'm locking this thread.
