Can someone give this relative a little color and if possible give me an idea which war he was in. I think WW1, but I am not sure Thanks in advance joy Sorry, I do not know how to delete the first picture uploaded by mistake
The regimental cap badge on the helmet appears to be that of the Royal Engineers and the uniform predates the 2nd world war. Taking that the badge is that of the Royal Engineers I have had a look on the 1st ww medal card index and amongst the 17 Henry Broughton's there is one, Henry Broughton- Royal Engineers- service number 167238. I am not saying that this his him but.................

thats exactly what I meant Joy, it sounds like him....it could be him..but is it? the only way to find out is to spend the £3.50 to get his medal card however the details given are not that brilliant in the way that you may want (ie no home address next of kin etc, all that would be on his army service papers not his medal index card) so that might still leave you in doubt if it is your man unless you can confirm his army number some how. However saying all that I would take the chance and would apply for the medal card anyway.

Joy, to obtain the medal card go to www.nationalarchives.gov.uk on the home page click on military history and then on campaign medals of world war one. Put in the details that I have given above for Henry Broughton in the information spaces and then click search. The site will tell you how you can apply and pay for the medal card that you want.
