Dear Rootschatters, Any info please? I've already printed out form BDM93 from Dept Internal Affairs in anticipation of purchasing a death certificate from New Zealand. And I'd like to know what's on them.

Q.Do bdm certs show what Maori tribe someone came from?

As there's been a few enquiries abt BDM certificates in NZ, I only wrote it up this morning after I saw your question, so that's no problem, not 100% sure about Maori certificates but I do believe that they would have the iwi (tribe) on them.

I have a few certificates from New Zealand
you get the D O B along with the address the child is born the fathers occupation and where he is from if he was present at the birth ,where the parents were married mothers name and where she is from .You get a good lot to help you

Dear Elizabeth, Hi there. Thanks for that info. Now that an excellent rootschatter called Alamar went to the trouble of photographing husband's grandparents grave in Huntly NZ I know what date they both died, and can calculate what year they were born.
Shall order certs after next pay-day. Can't wait.
