Welcome to the Twig search Baird

unfortunately so far I have no Henry..... Cry

But I have a Michael in Belfast 1760-1800 a cotten thread/muslin merchant with links to Manchester.

I have also found that lots of Twig;s are either, born ,marry ,have children ,then die and the spellings can change each time.

Twig Twigg Twiggs Twigge Quid Quigg Tuig Tuigg to name a few

I have followed many families backwards to find them go from Twig to Quig and back to Twig again ( think it is the Irish pronunciation)

I will keep Henry in mind and let you know post haste if I find him ...do you know of any other family names or his fathers name?

Funny you mention Quigg . When Henry married he gave his name as Quigg but thereafter at Christenings, Births  and Deaths the family name was  Twigg.
His father was named as HENRY on his death certificate but mother was un named.
Henry and Carolina had 3 children , all born in Glasgow; James (1839), Caroline(1843) and Sarah Ann(1849).
James (1839)married an Ann Skivington and they had two children;Caroline (1872 ) and Ann (1879).
Caroline(1843) married Thomas Burns(from Sligo) in Glasgow in 1866 and they had 11 children as follows;
Patrick Burns (1867)
Caroline Fairley Burns(1868)
John Burns(1870)
Isabella Twig Burns (1871)
Mary Burns(1873)
Thomas Burns(1875)
Joseph Burns (1880)
James Burns (1881) KIA Gallipoli 28th. June 1915.
Henrietta Burns(1882)
Honora (1885)
Henry Leo Burns(1889)

Sarah Ann (1849)married  a Patrick Burns in Glasgow in 1869 and they had 4 children;
Caroline(1870)
Patrick(1878)
Edward (1873)
Sarah Ann(1880)

Henry Twigg and Caroline Fairley died within 4 days of each other in Glasgow in February 1873. Henry was 76 and Caroline 65.
Hope this helps,
Baird

Hi Steve,
                On one of your postings on this topic, I noticed you had a Jane Gilliland who was present at the death of Jane Twig at Garfield Place, Ballamena. Should that have been Ballymena as I am researching my family in that area. Also do you have the date for that event?
                   thanks, Gillie
