Thanks to you both ....you certainly are hard workers!! Wink

The Berrimans are another limb of the tree I haven't been to research.....just knew that they belonged somewhere......The Couch family is from England.....I have this from a family here in australia....being the Perkin family....unfortuneatley all have passed on and any info that was available was thrown out by a daughter...... Angry

........the family here was Thomas Perkin he came to australia with Edwin......this is where the Wedge name also comes in to the picture......
Very confusing ......though very very grateful for any info at all.

Hi Cazay & Sue,
I am now wondering if you can do a look-up for the children of Alfred & Elizabeth Johns.......the reason for this is that we have a conflick in his birth date ......also that you have a Service number for him.......I have spoken to my Aunt and have worked out that it was 1927 when he came to Australia at the age of 18yrs.......so some dates of births would be interesting.
Also how can I get birth certificates from england?

I have three births and one death....

1892 birth Penzance death 1893

1899 birth Penzance
1901 birth penzance 2Q 5c 214

Must be a rellie as Edwin is Perkin with middle name.

Checked deaths for James Alfred b 1901 and found this....

James Alfred Johns age 0?? 1904 Q2 3b 202
All other Devon ports are 5B not 3B?

Emma Alice Jane b.18th Dec 1905 Devonport died 7th May 1992 Canada
Edwin Perkin b. 31st Dec 1906 Devonport died 11th Nov Australia
Stephen J b,30th Sept 1908 Devonport died 9th Jan 1992 Canada
Daniel A Johns b. 30th Nov 1911 Halestown Cornwall died 22 Jan 1982 Canada
Doreen Evely b. 22 June 1914 Devonport died Jan 2005 Canada
Alfred F b. 29th Feb 1916 Devonport died 17th Oct 1873 Canada

I see you have a nother Josiah Stephen ...this must be another child that died at an early time in life?
the other one was James Alfred 3 mths on the 1901 census!!!!!

Hope we can sort this out

Thomas Wedge Perkins is living at the same address - 5 Northumberland St Devonport as Alfred and Elizabeth Johns in the 1901 census. Details are ....

Daniel Perkins 63 St Ives Navvy on extension works
Nellie Perkins daughter 23 St Ives
Thomas Wedge Perkins son 2 Penzance

Tazzie found some births for Thomas so should be able to work out which one is his. There is a service record (second world war) on Aus Archives site, his birthdate is given as 21 April 1900. Also, the Josiah birth for 1908 is probably Stephen J as names are often reversed, some people are known by their second names. You will not be sure about the exact dates unless you have the certificates. Family heresay is not always reliable.
