I am researching the name 'Stelfox', I am currently in Australia, but I will be in the UK in Nov, I am looking for any tips on where I need to go to locate the documents ie birth, marriage , death certificates and also the view any census records in Cheshire or Liverpool. In particular I am looking for address/abode for Stelfox George and Elizabeth(Parks) in mid to late 1800's, Haddon Hall and what happened to this building, any help greatly accepted

Hi,
in reply to your questions, Haddon Hall is a Stately home in Derbyshire. It is a beautiful Tudor building with a lot of history.
It is open to the public in the summer but I'm not sure about November.
The Cheshire records office in Chester is a wonderful place for research into Cheshire families.
If your family had connections with Haddon Hall then the Derbyshire records office at Matlock would be the place to go.
Opening details and directions are available on the internet.

HI,
I have been gently researching my family in Nether Alderley, Cheshire and I came across a Stelfox family, I think, without double checking, that they were farmers; they seemed to be an old established family in the area and had links with St Mary's Church, Nether Alderley.
If this is relevant, I'll try and find out some more for you.

Hi!
George Stelfox married Elizabeth Parks at St. Marys Church, Gr. Budworth, Cheshire, in 1846 .
You will find the marriage on the following site, and if you click on the reference number at the side of the marriage, it will give you a print out form, with address and reference number, just in case you want to order a certificate.
