Hi everyone.  My ancestor from Co. Meath was tried and convicted of vagrancy in 1851. 
Her records say "3 years on the town". 
Can someone please tell me what this means?

Hiya Anne in OZ ,

I think this means that if your ancestor behaved herself for three years the slate
would be wiped clean whereas if she misbehaved she would be imprisoned immediately.
