e mail - problem

i have a hotmail address, and over the past two days i have been unable to access my messages. It will let me sign in, and go to my inbox or whatever, but then wont let me access the messages.
It will let me type new messages, and i could contact their customer service network, but then i would not be able to read their reply!!
Does anyone have any idea why this might be? I have not installed/uninstalled anything recently, and i even did a system restore to see if that worked - it didnt!!
Now i dont know what to try next, any ideas Huh Huh Huh

I have now discovered i can access my messages at work,  so it must be my computer!! now i am really confused. can anyone help??

Hi Ravenhair,

What web browser do you have on your home computer?  I had some problems accessing hotmail with Internet Explorer which I suspect had become corrupted or infected on my computer.  I downloaded the free Mozilla Firefox browser and now use this without problems.

Hi Al,
Thanks for your reply. I have internet explorer, so maybe that is causing a problem here. We do have IE  on the work computer, bvut it must be something top do with mine, i am not very technology minded!! I could try Mozilla (erm, how do I do it??)

Hi,

Click on the following link:

http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=firefox-1.5.0.4&os=win&lang=en-GB

and save the file to your hard disc.  It's about 5MB so I hope you've got a broadband connection!

You then have to run the file you've downloaded at Firefox will install automatically.  I think you have to restart your PC after the installation.

Hi Ravenhair

You could open another free email account with someone like Yahoo.co.uk and then send an email from your yahoo email account to hotmail.

Downloading another browser sounds like an over-the-top solution to what might turn out to be a simple problem.  You may have removed a hotmail cookie which might interfere with the authentication process.

i do not have broadband, it has not quite reached us yet!!!

Good idea about the other free e mail account, thanks. It is just so puzzling, but fortunately at the moment my boss is on holiday, so i have a sneaky look at work!!!! Lips Sealed
