What happened to them? I can't see them on later census returns I can see a *possible* Martha in 1901 living with her grandmother Hannah Winter, but I'm not able to trace her back properly.
I think I have spotted Selina in 1871: Selina Mitchell, serv, unm, 17, Kitchenmaid, b. Northamptonshire Grafton
at St George Hanover Square in the household of Clinton G Hawkins, Civil servant Foreign Department. RG10/99 14 20
From there on, I think this may be her in 1861: RG9/958 116 9 Grafton Underwood, Northamptonshire John Mitchel, head, 60, Labourer, b. Grafton Underwood Hannah, wife, 63, b. Tywell? Soline, granddau, 9, scholar, b. Grafton Underwood

And tracing Joseph forth, I see in 1861: RG9/959 118 13 Twywell, Northamptonshire Joseph Mitchell, head, 33, Ag lab, b. Graffton Elizabeth, wife, 30, b. Clipton? Elizabeth, dau, 10, Lace maker, b. Twywell George, son, 6, scholar, b. Geddington Anne, dau, 3, scholar, b. do. Thomas, son, 7mo, b. Twywell

Hm. Look at this: 1851 HO107/1568 106 45 Surrey Newington St Mary 172? High Street Geo Simpson, head, 33, Operative Chemist, b. Surrey (can't read) Elizabeth, wife, 33, b. do. Edward W Butt, Apprentice, 19, Apprentice to chemist, b. Berks Newbury? Hannah Winter, serv, unm, 25, Domestic servant, b. Surrey Thurlsey
Are you descended from Bertha, or are you aware of any other children Edward and Selina had?
