Hi,
I am looking for information please about the parents and siblings of Frederick Rossiter born circa 1862 in West Monkton.
I know he had a brother William G & a sister Rhoda born in Enmore and a younger brother Henry J Rossiter born in Wellington.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. TIA.
Best wishes

Hi Again
This is what I found for you about Frederick ROSSITER on the 1871 Census.
Frome Somerset RG10/2430 Folio 75 Page 26 83 Horton Street
ROSSITER
Samuel Head Marr 49 Shoemaker Frome Somerset Mary A Wife Marr 33 Plymouth Devon Frederick Son Unmarr 10 Scholar " "
In 1871 Rhoda ROSSITER was an inmate of the Wellington union Workhouse Somerset
In 1861 Samuel seems to have been boarding in Doncaster with Samuel Richardson SMITH and his wife Hannah, where his occupation was given as a recruiting seargent of ?. Birthplace was Frome Somerset.
In 1881 there is just him and Mary A in Frome.
Nothing else shows up sorry
Cheers Karenlee

Hi Karenlee,
Thanks for that. However I think it must be a different Frederick as I have all four of them living together as lodgers with the Troake family in Wellington in the 1881 Census.
Here's the link to what I found:- familysearch.org-etc-etc.
I'll check out Samuel though because he is a shoemaker and that was one of the family trades.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes

Hi Joburg,
Thanks for that. Think this family must be hiding out somewhere in deepest Somerset. Looking more and more like a case for Tom Barnaby by the minute. LOL.
Best wishes

Hi, Had a look at the map. Broomfield is about halfway between West Monkton and Enmore.

Hi Joburg,
Many thanks for that. That's interesting. Just wondering why there is so little evidence of them early on and yet in 1881 there they are all together?
Wonder where the other three are hiding?
Best wishes

Hi Alli & Good Morning!!
Thanks for all your posts. Does the 1871 Census make clear what the relationships are please?
I'm assuming that 72 year old George might be the father of Elizabeth's husband, George. If George jnr worked away and the family fell on hard times in his absence they may well have been forced into the workhouse.
As Elizabeth is still described as married I wonder where her husband is?
Best wishes
