Morning All!  Smiley

On Saturday I travelled north, yes it was me who brought all that rain, to do some research in Halifax Central Library.

I telephoned the Reference dept the day before and was told that, although the Archive department would be closed, the library staff would be able to access any information that I wanted.

Unfortunatley this is NOT the case as I was unable to look the Name Index for the 1851 Census.

Therefore, I wonder if anyone who uses the library regularly would be kind enough to look up the name Southwood for me please.  I know from the transcript of the name index on the CFHS website that the name Southwoods only appears 4 times however I have no idea whereabouts they were.  This would mean starting centrally and working outwards.  So, if anyone could take a quick look the next time there in the Library I'd be very grateful

Ta muchly

Hello Pauline  Grin

Thank you so much for doing that for me.

As Elizabeth was born in 1849 she's 8 years older than my Elizabeth but hopefully it means I am on the right track.  Although of course it was not uncommon for parents to give a subsequent child the name of an earlier one since deceased. I found a Joseph on the IGI born Septmber 1831 which may be hiim, son of Joseph and Isabella so maybe if there were two Elizabeth's they were cousins.  It'll be interesting to see the 1861 Census when it's online.

Many thanks
