Cambridge - Elsworth - CORN/BONE
« on: Tuesday 20 June 06 11:17 BST (UK) »

Does any one know of any B.M.D's for Elsworth prior to 1800, am interested in anything on the Corn & Bone family.

John Corn of Eynesbury married a Avice (Alice) Bone (born about 1740 at Elsworth) on 3/11/1777 at Elsworth, she died Elsworth 1784. Only found two children, John bapt. 1784 & Stephen bapt. 1778.

John then possibly married a Elizabeth Speck in 1786 at Buckden, he died Buckden 1807.

Any help at all gratefully received.

Hi Beckey

I must have missed this post at the time, during one of the periods when my internet connection was down in the summer.

Notwithstanding that we've been corresponding by PM on this family I thought I'd reply publicly in case any others are interested.

I've just ordered the Elsworth PR transcript which hopefully should be here in France in a week or so. Some of the earlier female only baptisms in Elsworth have been extracted onto the IGI and there's not a Bone in sight in the 1700s, so she might be elusive!

I'm beginning to think that this John Corn may have been from Buckden, and was the one who was buried there on 19 Jun 1829 age 77. I think the John Corn buried 1809 may have been his father.

As Buckden registers haven't been filmed by the LDS I'm asking Huntingdon Records Office to check them out - they're quick and cheaper than a return flight to Stansted on Ryanair!

More offboard

Regards

David
