Hi there,
Am looking for William  Radford in 1871 and on if possible. He was born in about 1852 Hemmingford Grey, Hunts.

Also Richard Radford in 1891 only.  Born 1857 Hemingford Grey.

I found Richard Radford with birth year of 1858 in St Ives, Huntingdonshire with a son with same name in same locality with the birth year of 1881.

Would you like this information??

Thanks. Am not convinced it could be mine but am interested to see it incase can slot it in somehow! I found what thought to be my Richard in 1881 in West St. St IVes, with mother Mary and her father (actually father in law) also Richard living there.

Yes it seems we have same census information.

I can only think is that you would have to add more information to this post so it will help other Rootschatters including me to narrow the searches for you.

As to the birthplace, try to be open-minded because some enumerators did enter some erroneous information on this area.

I do think Tees found the correct family

from 1891 living in West Street St Ives

RG12/1241 folio 56 page 24

Mary Radford age 62 widow born St Ives ; living on own means
Walter Radford age 40 single ; Cattle & pig dealer
Richard Radford age 33 single ; Cattle & pig dealer
Harriett F Radford age 25 single

This is same address as in 1881, the children's names & birth years correspond & they were Cattle Dealers 10 years ago. Although in 1891 they are all recorded as born St Ives, in 1861 Walter was born Fen Stanton, in 1871 Richard & Harriett were born Hemingford Grey.

As to William cannot find him after 1861 - then he was born 1852 Hemingford Grey. Suggest it may have died - have you trawled through death indexes - free on Ancestry.  Found a possible June qtr 1863 St Ives vol 3b page 190
