Portrait of the genealogist as a young man

You will need to upload the website files generated by Family Tree Maker into your rootschat webspace.
How to do this is covered in TUTORIAL: Step-by-Step Guide to building your website http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,93490.0.html
Good luck - we were all once newbies at this.

I have the WDYTYA version of Family Tree Maker and although the tutorial on RootsChat is very detailed and helpful the only way in this programme that I have found to convert things to html from my software is through the genealogy.com site.(Possibly a way of monoplosing things as the software comes from them!)
I had really only used my family tree software to produce pedigree charts and wrote all my bmd and census data into mini profiles for my ancestors in Word as I went along (I'm still new to this so didn't have a paper based info backlog). I've therefore just linked the site generated by the software to my rootschat site as I could manipulate the mini-profiles in Word to post them on the web.
This solution has worked for me but I can understand ithe problem if you have lots more research that you have got into some software and then would have to repeat to get it onto the web.

Thanks Nadine!
Using the very low tech Microsoft Publisher to create the site but I think the simple is ok for me
Mainly using my site as a way for my parents to keep up to date (my mum's quite interested and one of her brother's wants to keep informed for my young cousin) without me having to send them by email or hand over the Word documents/pdfs had been doing.
Your site is looking very good too!
