I already found some other things by now. He died on 24 May 1943 at his estate at Hunstrete, near Pensford in Somerset. And his wife maidenname was Janet Emily Freeman Hunt, but no ther details then that she lived from 1884-1946. No mentioned yet about childern.
The source here was Ibis 85 (1943): 523-524, Oct. 1943.
Hopefully some-one could located the date he was born in 1864 at St George's Hanover Square, London.
Cheers,
Justin

With a name like that the birth certificate will be easy to find and will give the details of birth (date and place).
Who's Who will probably have entries for him if more details of his life are needed.

Yes, he did have children. May I ask why you were wanting to know about him?

In researching people who are involved with bird collecting in The Netherlands and he is one of them. He came often with two suppossed brothers Pike to The Netherlands, of the latter any details are welcome.

I'm surprised to get this message today, having only yesterday been looking at some of his photographs from Holland. Pictures of him (probably) in a canoe and local huntsmen. He was an ornithologist, but I did think that his trips to Holland were chiefly for shooting duck. The godson of Hugh's middle daughter, Mary, is also an ornithologist and can tell you more on the subject.
The brothers were probably Frank (Francis) and Alek (Alexander). When you say Pike I don't know what you mean.

Dear Eleanor,
Many birds in the British Museum (most are ducks indeed) and the Leiden Museum are labelled as Pike & Popham, there where two Pike's in his company, I known their initials H.J. and T.M. Any information valuable for the Pike brother's or other information is very welcome.
With best wishes,
Justin

OK. Sorry to have misunderstood. Don't know anything about the Pikes, but I'll try asking.

By the way, the correct spelling is Leyborne, as per the picture.
