Please tell me what this means.

You aren't receiving notifications on any boards right now.

To request notifications from a specific board, click the "notify" button in the index of that board.

I am not getting notification for answers to my  topics. I do not know how to change this.

Hi if you go to your profile you can then select notifications or you click on notify at the top of the board listing. I think this is a topic  for How to use RC though not Photo Rest.

Thank you, I do not know what RC means and I went to Profile but cannot find where I am supposed to check for notify.
I still am not getting email notifcations

RC = Rootschat. The easiest way to have board notifications is to click on the notify button at the top of the particular board topics. If you want e-mails about replies to your messages you change them in e-mail and message settings in your profile.
You can also click on Show New Replies at the top of the page - this is the easiest . I'llput some piccies/how to do it if you'd like.

Hi Joy,

Gadget posted while I was typing this, but I'll post anyway;
I think between us, we've coverd everything then.

RC is often used (here) as an abbreviation for RootsChat.

As Gadget says, you can click on the "notify" button at the top of any board to get notifications of changes on that board.

Or you can click on the "Notify" button on individual topics to get notifications just for that topic.

When you reply to a topic, one of the options "(Attach Attach a photograph or image (and other options).." is to "notify me of replies" 


You can set notification defaults in your profile:

Click on Notifications and Email
the three global values are
 x Receive RootsChat announcements by email.
 x Receive reply notification only for the first unread reply.
 x Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic.

The third line is the important one, but remember, set this to the method you need most; this saves work, and you can always change it for individual topics.

Thanks i understand. There must be a problem with my outlook setup because i do not get a new mail notification.
I have tried all settings but no avail. Drives me insane

As I've been doing a bit of picture making, I'll post anyway, as Joy is visual  Wink

(sorry Bob - hope not stepping on toes  Undecided )

The first bit is what you have at the top of the screen on every page except the Welcome page. If you click on Show New replies - indicated by my red arrow you'll get to see one view.

If you go to your profile and click on Notification and e-mails you'll see the second way. youcan change your settings as I've indicated again in red.

Hi Roadrunner

It sounds as if your internet provider is filtering them out as spam .................. can you check your emails via their site without opening outlook and mark any found in the trash as "not spam" Huh

I will have a go. Verizon just started a new Beta System, but even that has no notifcation.
In the morrow I will get on the blower and see what prob is, today too hot.
