Hi
I have found out that my gggrandfather lived at Rainbow Hall Farm back in 1840's, they must have sold the farm and moved to Toddington, Bedfordshire. I am not sure whether my family originates from Herts or Beds. My gggrandparents were; William George and Susannah Fowler. My g grandfather was Arthur Edgar George. My grandfather was William Henry George and my father was Duncan William Edgar George. I would like to connect with any descendants from this family. I have already found out that I may have American and Canadian relatives. I come from NZ.
Cheers Bronwyn

Thankyou for your help
I didn't realise how close Herts and Beds were. So, my family probably moved from Flamstead to Luton for work.

There is an excellent book on Flamstead, which contains lots of information on former residents. You may have to order a copy though, or you could try ordering it through your library service in NZ.
A New History Of Flamstead by Eric Edwards, Published by the Flamstead Society - ISBN 0-9519739-2-4

Hi
I do not know if you bought a copy of the book mentioned, as your last post on the matter was a while back. I lived in Flamstead and now live in the next village Markyate, In fact I used to horse ride at Rainbow Hall farm. I have copy of the book mentioned, every child living in the village in the year 2000 was given a copy by Eric.
It says that William George farmer and iron founder lived there by 1838, the land was owned by George and William Howard. He still lived there in 1861 aged 59 and his wife aged 58, farming 105 acres and employing 4 men and 2 boys, by 1870 there was a new farmer.
You might have found all of this already

Hi - have just read your post, so I may be too late, but William & Susanna George were also my gg grandparents (I'm descended from Mary Ann Elizabeth). I'm also in NZ, so would like to make contact and share info if you're interested.
