Hi Ali, Thank you for your kind offer. On your travels would you be anywhere near to Maryculter churchyard?I am looking for Helen Ogston-maiden name Milne. She was buried on 10th June 1854.I am sorry to be so vague but i don't know anything else about her except that she was the second (?)wife of William Ogston, they lived for some time in Old Machar and that was her burial date...Julie.

hi again - i went to maryculter churchyard looking for your ogston's - sorry ive been away on hols for a couple of week so i havent been on here - i spoke to someone who knows of that churchyard quite well and he confirms what i said - there is no Ogston stone in that churchyard. However, here is the minister's number 735776 - i think the code will be 01224 as its just outside aberdeen. the church officer's number is 732071 - same code. hope they can help Alison

Hi Julie,
Might be sending you off on a wrong tangent here, but there is a Helen Milne and Ogston buried in St Clements (Aberdeen- Old Machar is a Parish in Aberdeen, and St Clements is a Kirk there). The dates don't match, but it might be worth a look.
Check the ANEFHS website for MI's

Hi Grothenwell, Thanks for that.Actually,I did'nt know that St Clements was in Old Machar.I've had a look but unfortunately, she is'nt the one i was after..There is an Ogston family in that area in the 1841 census but as yet i have'nt been able to link them up with mine-naturally!

i used to live nextdoor to this cemetry -this is where all the famous, well educated and wealthy people in aberdeen are buried overlooking the river - is he one of them or will it be just a normal grave? I could ask around and see if anyone could give me any pointers - its a big graveyard but il see what i can do...im going past it later this week so il pop in
