Can anybody help? Can you go back this far?
« on: Saturday 01 July 06 00:09 BST (UK) »

Looking for information on my gt-gt-gtgrandfather and family. All I have is James Pinch, wife Mary(don't know maiden name), living in Little Birch. Son's James 1820, Thomas 1822 and John 1825. Any information would be gratefully appreciated. Regards, Jean

HI Jean
I have found a James Pinch 78 living in Little Birch, he is an Ag Lab and widowed. His place of birth is unfortunately unknown on the record
He appears to be living in the grounds of a farm called New Mills. The 3 houses before his entry are uninhabited. The farmer is William Paine farming 161 acres with 4 employees

In 1841 I have found the following
Mark Pinch 25 Ag Lab
Charlotte Pinch 25
John 1
At Birch Common Much Birch

James Pinch 55 Ag Lab
Mary Pinch 50
Both born in the county
Castle cottage Little Birch

John Pinch 20
Living at Birch Common looks like he was a servant

William Birch 18 Male servant
At New Mills head of family James Bennett Farmer

Do these sound like the right folk??

Thanks for the reply. They do seem like the same folks, that's James and family. Seen this Mark Pinch and family on searchs, can you tell me if they were related? Could you find out what happened to Thomas and James if that's possible. Regard, Jean

Only Mark Pinch I can find is baptised in 1829 at Hentland son of Richard and Mary.

There appear to be 2 families of Pinch living there, Thomas and Ann and Richard and Mary having children baptised  in the 1820s

Hi
From what I can make out

Mark was the son of Richard & Mary Pinch

James, John and Thomas were the children of James and Mary Pinch
Wiliam was the son of Thomas & Ann Pinch

I think James, Thomas and Richard were probably brothers
I will see if I can track James and Thomas later on

It could be, the only information I had when I started was my grandfather's father came from Hereford. Did'nt expect to get as far as I have, so anything you can find would be a great help. Regards, Jean.
