Hello,
Does anyone have access to Ironville Parish Records? The IGI seems to run out of Bapt. around 1860 in Ironville.
Am looking for the Bapt. of William & Sarah Ann Shelton's children. Born between 1861-1885 Ironville.

Hi,
The younger children born from 1861 Codnor Park, are
Mary Ann 1861
Charles 1864
Samuel 1866
Kate 1869
Sarah 1870 These are on the 1871 Census
On the 1881 Census, in addition to the above there are extra children:-
Walter 1873
Rayse? 1875 - This is probably Ralph
Elizabeth 1877
It would probably be easier to find their Birth Registration, Codnor Park comes under
Basford Registration District. .
After civil registration, many people did not bother with a Church Bpt.

just thought I'd let you know that the original records are still in Ironville Church and can be viewed by appointment I believe.
The Church was built 1842, first Reverend being John Casson.

Hi,
Derbyshire County Record Office, Matlock lists the following entry
under 1996 Accessions:-
REF D3088
Ironville (addnl): parish records 1851-1985 (D3088).
These dates appear to cover the Bpt you are looking for, perhaps
you could ask for someone to do at search for you on their next visit
to Matlock.

Ironville and Codnor Park fall into a strange category with BMD. The Church is part of the Alfreton Ecclesiastical Parish and therefore comes under the registration district of Belper. However, births and marriages registered with the registrar only come under Basford registration district. Add to that Butterley Company Owners would not allow any Non-Conformist places of worship within the Parish bounds (i.e. Methodists, Baptists, Weslyans etc.) and you can get births and marriages in Basford and Belper in that way as well.
