I am trying to trace living BARTONs who are descendants of John BARTON born 1745 in Hoo Kent. He married a Mary LEES (not sure if surname is correct) and they had 3 children; John born 1777, William born 1782 and Mary born 1779. Mary married someone called LAW.
William was my 4 x Great Grandfather and he had 3 wives all named Elizabeth. The second wife (Elizabeth Groombridge )had a daughter named Charlotte, who was my 3 x great grandmother. Her daughter Elizabeth ended my direct line to the Bartons and to date I have been unable to find any records of the male line continuing.
William had 3 sons; William b 1810, John b 1824 and James b 1830. Other that James appearing on the 1841 census in Hoo Work House, with sister Charlotte, I can find no record of any of the 3 sons.
John, the brother of William Senior had 4 sons; William b 1800, John b 1803 ( died aged 19 ), Thomas (died aged 4 months) and James b 1822. I can find no record of William or James.
It would be great to be able to trace the family name of BARTON up to date and perhaps add a living cousin onto my family tree. I live in New Zealand so my researching ability is limited. Can anyone find any details of the families of the male BARTONS?
Thanks
Dave
