I know McKenzie is a scotch name and there are thousands .But my McKenzie seem to be lost .On Adams marriage certificate his father is Alexander and his mother Jane McKay Gordon
Adam was born 15.10.1853
This was from a page from a family paper belonging to an aunt
I have Adams marriage certificate he was married at Pitsligo to Isabella Birnie Watson that took place on 3.12.1875 at Pitsligo
These two emigrated to New Zealand in 1877
on The SS Canterbury
Isabella returned to England with 3 of her family between 1888 and 1893
She remarried at Newcastle upon Tyne in 1893 to a James Lane a widow they had one daughter Ormuz May lane
I have a photo of Isabella her daughter Jessie and Jessie's daughter Bella Shand taken in Fraserburgh this is about 1913
this is a guess
Isabellas mother was Elonor Munro from Ardlaw
Her father William Watson from Kirktown of St Furgus
they married 18.6 1859 at Pitsligo
Edinburgh do not have the birth of Adam McKenzie is there anyone who can help
No records shown in Scottish People

This is a shot in the dark, but in IGI there is an Alexander McKenzie who married a McKay Gordon on Jan. 10 1834 in Loth, Sutherland.
Also there are 5 siblings ( one boy and 4 girls)of these parents all born in Loth, Sutherland. Couldn't find an Adam, but he could have been born in another county or parish and not listed.
Could this be your elusive Alexander?

On looking further in IGI I found a Jean Gordon born Oct. 14, 1814 in Kildonan, Sutherland. Parents John Gordon and a Mary McKay.
Given that your Jane had the middle name of
McKay and since it was extremely common in Scotland at the time to give a child the maiden name of the mother - Could this your Jane McKay Gordon?
Torrygirl PS Also common at the time was the interchanging of names, Jane, Jean, Janet and Jessie.

This maybe them as auntie Maggie in Newzealand could be the older sister of Adam also I had an auntie Ann my Dads sister .James was my granda McKenzie it seems to fit in
It would make Jane Gordon 39yrs old when Adam was born and when he was married 61 if she was born in 1814 ..
I will give it a try

Glad to help - hope this is your family.
Just for info I have never been able to find a birth or baptism record of my great grandmother even though her 7 siblings were all recorded. So it can happen that a child with several siblings may not have been recorded for whatever reason.

Jan 12th 1821 there's a Janet Gordon married to an Alexandre Mckenzie...
The place is in Ross & Cromarty...This is an extracted listing on the I.G.I....

in Rogart, Sutherland....along with siblings Alexander, Donald, William & James...
(Margaret and James were married 1800 in Glasgow...Oops..found another
submission for same couple...1800 Kirkcudbright) Hmmmm this seems to be a little old to be the right one...wouldn't it?

Jane Mackay Gordon Born 1817 Kildonan Died nov 29 1898West Helmsdale I have not got the marriage as yet
First child born Ann 1835
