My grandparents were married in Holyhead in 1913. There address on the certificate is given as 1. Kings Road Holyhead. There names are George Humphreys Matthews (born in Ireland) and Lily Christina Langron. They were married in the Help of Christians, Market Street, Holyhead. There fathers were Wiliam Henry Dundas Matthews and James Langron, wittnesses were Kathleen Langron and James Stapleton.
Is there anyway of telling if this address is on the 1901 census, if it isn't does anyone know when the houses were built in Kings Road or if the dwelling is still there today. Any help much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Christine

Hi Christine, Do you still want King St. Holyhead? If so, I.ll contact my nephew there tomorrow, it sounds familiar but cant place it. I used to live there about 30 years ago. regards Peter

Hi Peter
Its Kings Road not Kings Street that I am looking for. If you meant Kings Road then yes please any information would be most welcome. My grandparents came from Ireland so I dont know why they would be in Holyhead, i thought they would have married in Dublin. All other addresses i have for them are in Dublin.
regards Christine

Hi Chris., King Road is still there. try multimap.com it will show it. My nephew is on holiday at the moment but he will try to find date of the building. As to the settling in Holyhead, there was work, if he worked on or with the railway/boats he got free/reduced travel. And following on from that line it was close to the boats to get back. This is my thoughts, hope it helps with your research best wishes Peter

Hi ChrisPage Looking at the census sheets for Holyhead, Anglesey in 1901. All the street names are in Welsh. So you might need some who can translate from Welsh to English to find Kings Road, if it was there in 1901

Hello Christine, I have just been talking to my nephew in Caernarfon, who was brought up in Holyhead, and is a genealogy nut, he said that it would probably been built late Victorian onto about 1920. When I told him the details you had given, he said that would be right. Built 1901 - 1912 like some other streets there. If you want definite proof write to Anglesea district Council, Llangefni. or google "llangefni". Hope this helps with your research into your family. best wishes Peter
