Same people?
« on: Monday 10 July 06 20:21 BST (UK) »

Hi everyone

Just a quick question, I was just wondering whether you guys could help determine whether the couples seen in the photos I'm posting are the same people just at diffirent ages.

I always thought they were my grandad's grandparent's in the photo of the people when they were younger, but grandad thinks they're my nan's grandparents. I know the elderly people are my nan's grandparents in old age. Sorry that must sound really confusing, but it would be great if you could help me decide whether they're the same people.

Hi Rachael,
I can't tell one way or the other  Undecided ...do you have the photos, and could you scan them again?
Maybe just select the faces to scan, and scan at a reasonably high resolution (say 300dpi), then post again.  In particular, the earlier pic is difficult to see the details of.

The man could possibly be the same (similar cheeks/set of eyes, etc.) but the woman's face is not clear enough to make any judgement.

Think, as Prue says, we need a clearer scan of the early photo.

Thanks for that Sharon - there don't seem to be any features that really stand out  Undecided

P.S. Love the photo of your grandma - you've reminded me of a similar pic of my own nana!  Must try to find it.

I agree with Gadget about the gentleman & I can see some similarity in the woman's chin & bottom lip maybe, & the nose seems a similar length,

Hi thanks for all your help, I've enclosed a larger scan of the oroginal older photo. If you need a larger scan of the photo with the old people just ask Smiley. Love the face comparison BTW.

Rachael

P.S. Could anyone give me an idea as to the date that this photo was probably taken? That would be a great help!

Thanks Sharon

The women do have the same shaped face (allowing for the sag of age  Sad) . It could be but the eyes don't seem the same at all. The man I think is a strong possibility.

Sharon - like your grandmother but what's happened to Freddie Huh

That's lovely PollDoll, thanks I don't have any other photos of dad's side of the family pre-1900 so it's nice to see her face properly Wink.

Sorry to repeat myself but can anyone give me a rough idea of the date? It's a studio photo so I can scan the back if you'd like, I have looked up the studio but could find very little or no information on when that photo company was active, and I'm totally useless at dating clothes.

Best

Could anyone clarify and put her hands up together to compare, please. I'm on my laptop and don't have access to all my goodies. Bit of contrast to bring them up.  The nails look similar in both photos - only thing is that she has her left over her right on the early one and the right over her left on the later one  Huh
